2009 is the ninth vintage produced by the Protected Designation of Origin Pago Florentino. It is a wine produced in a genuine pago, an unique terroir about which we learn something new every year, making each vintage better than the previous one despite the differences between them. The vineyards are located at the foot of a hill, protected on the north by a mountain range and facing south toward two natural lakes. The climate is extreme—very cold winters and hot summers with minimal rainfall. The soil has pebbles on the surface (perfect drainage), clay subsoil with a high retention potential (for this reason, vines in summer suffer a moderate water stress), and a layer of slate below that works as a basin.
